Insight Health Unveils AI Agents to Transform Routine Clinical Workflows

Insight Health Unveils AI Agents for Routine Clinical Work | Healthcare 360 Magazine

Newly launched out of stealth, Insight Health is setting a fresh benchmark in healthcare automation by introducing AI agents tailored for routine clinical tasks. These virtual assistants handle functions ranging from patient intake and medical history gathering to follow-ups and referral management. Unlike other startups focusing solely on automating clinical documentation during patient visits, Insight Health targets the full continuum of care, emphasizing patient-facing tasks that often overburden healthcare providers.

Jaimal Soni, co-founder and CEO of Insight Health, emphasized the significance of their approach: “After speaking to hundreds of providers, we identified that a major pain point lies in the repetitive, front-end work that steals valuable time from clinicians.” The company’s AI system can independently meet with patients via voice or text ahead of appointments, enabling providers to focus more on diagnosis and treatment during visits. According to Soni, what typically takes 20–25 minutes for manual history taking can now be streamlined to just 3–4 minutes.

Lumi: The AI Agent Revolutionizing Clinical Efficiency

At the heart of Insight Health’s offering is its flagship agent, Lumi. This AI-powered virtual assistant gathers detailed patient history, updates medication lists, and manages follow-up care, much like a physician assistant would. Lumi, along with other proprietary agents, also helps process referrals, prep charts, and even serves as an AI scribe. The system is fully integrated with major electronic health record (EHR) systems such as athenahealth, NextGen, AdvancedMD, and more, with an Epic integration currently in development.

The results speak volumes. Over 1,500 clinicians across specialties use the platform daily, and the AI agents have autonomously conducted more than 100,000 clinical conversations to date. Clinics report saving 10 to 20 minutes per patient visit, and the technology also reduces after-hours charting, helping to ease what providers call “pajama time.”

The team behind Insight Health includes two physicians—Dr. Pankaj Gore and Dr. Eric Stecker, and two former product leaders from Segment and Twilio, Jaimal Soni and Saran Siva. Their shared experience across medicine and tech provides a strong foundation for this ambitious healthcare solution.

Building “Safe AI” for Scalable, Human-Centered Healthcare

Backed by $4.6 million in seed funding from Kindred Ventures, Insight Health has prioritized building what it calls “safe AI,” emphasizing security, trust, and adaptability to future regulatory standards. While the healthcare industry currently lacks a unified framework for AI governance, Insight Health claims its systems are already designed with built-in safety protocols and clinician oversight.

Another standout feature is the focus on user experience. The AI agents offer natural, multilingual voice interactions tailored for a wide age range and varying levels of tech familiarity. “We’re not just building point solutions,” Soni explained. “Our goal is to support the entire workflow, from pre-visit intake to lifetime patient-provider communication.”

As the healthcare AI market rapidly evolves, Insight Health aims to lead by delivering a holistic, integrated solution that lifts administrative burdens from providers while enhancing patient care experiences.
