Section 1: Strategic Expansion into New Mexico
Texas-based New Day Healthcare has announced its plans to acquire Heritage Home Healthcare LLC, a New Mexico-based provider, marking a significant expansion of the company’s footprint into a fifth state. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. Scheduled to close in July pending standard approvals and conditions, the acquisition is a part of New Day’s ongoing efforts to broaden its reach and improve access to home-based care across the United States.
The company’s founder and CEO, G. Scott Herman, shared that this acquisition has been years in the making. Herman emphasized the shared organizational culture, values, and strong community reputation as key drivers behind the partnership. “We are pleased to partner with the Heritage Home Healthcare team,” Herman stated, highlighting Heritage’s “patient first” approach and consistent pursuit of care excellence as a natural fit for New Day’s mission.
Section 2: Heritage’s Legacy and Role in the Deal
Heritage Home Healthcare has been a trusted care provider in New Mexico since 1993, offering hospice, skilled nursing, and home care services in four counties. The organization, which transitioned from nonprofit status, has a staff of more than 900 professionals and manages the care of approximately 1,100 patients daily. As part of the acquisition, Heritage will continue operating under its current brand, preserving the local identity and relationships it has built over the years.
This acquisition represents the fifteenth for New Day Healthcare and aligns with its multi-state growth strategy. With New Mexico now added to its operational footprint, New Day continues to respond to demographic shifts that are increasing demand for hospice care. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 20% of New Mexico’s population is aged 65 or older—a segment growing faster than the national average. Additionally, hospice utilization among Medicare beneficiaries in the state reached over 45% in 2022, underscoring the rising need for end-of-life services.
Section 3: Future Plans and Growth Strategy
Founded in 2020, New Day Healthcare has rapidly grown its operations, now caring for roughly 180,000 patients annually with a workforce of nearly 10,000 employees. The company provides a range of services, including hospice, home health, pediatric, and personal care, across Texas, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and now New Mexico. Its portfolio includes well-known care brands such as Good Samaritan Society, Intrepid USA, Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, and several others.
New Day follows a three-pronged strategy combining tuck-in acquisitions, market expansion, and transformational business models. The organization frequently integrates smaller providers into its existing service areas and co-locates various care services to streamline operations. Chief Development and Strategy Officer Matthew Griffith said the company will apply its continuum-based model and proprietary CareLytics software to enhance patient care and drive sustainable growth.
“Our platform is built for scale,” Griffith noted, adding that New Day is well-positioned for further expansion and improved care delivery through both organic initiatives and disciplined acquisitions.
