Leader Formulas LLC is recalling one lot of its RAPTURE Pre-Workout supplement nationwide after FDA testing found DMAA, a stimulant that can raise blood pressure and cause serious cardiovascular complications.

FDA Identifies Three Flavors in the Recall

The RAPTURE Pre-Workout Recall, announced Oct. 6 and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Oct. 7, affects RAPTURE Pre-Workout powder manufactured by Leader Formulas, a company based in Tomball, Texas. The supplement was distributed nationwide through retailers and the company’s website from Jan. 29, 2025, through May 25, 2026.

The affected products come in 450-gram round plastic containers with red and black lettering and a rhinoceros image on the seal. Consumers should check the lot number, 260327-4, to determine whether their product is included in the recall.

The three affected flavors are Rainbow Twist, Electric Lemonade, and Berry Mojito. Their UPCs are 710154236506, 710143236513 and 710154236544, respectively.

The FDA says laboratory testing detected 1,3-dimethylamylamine, commonly known as DMAA, in the supplement. The agency had previously warned consumers against purchasing or using RAPTURE Preworkout after identifying the substance in the product in May 2026.

DMAA Poses Potential Cardiovascular Risks

DMAA is a synthetic stimulant that can increase blood pressure and place additional stress on the cardiovascular system. Potential complications include heart attacks, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.

In its May consumer warning, the FDA said, “Using DMAA can elevate blood pressure and could lead to cardiovascular problems, including heart attack, shortness of breath and tightening of the chest.”

The agency also noted that the supplement industry sometimes refers to DMAA as “geranium extract.” The ingredient’s presence under that name does not establish that a product is safe.

The FDA has warned against DMAA in dietary supplements because of its safety risks. The agency advises consumers not to use products containing the stimulant and urges anyone experiencing possible adverse effects to consult a health care professional.

Pre-workout supplements are commonly marketed to support energy and exercise performance. However, consumers should not assume that a product is safe simply because it is sold as a dietary supplement.

Leader Formulas has not reported adverse events associated with the current recall. In its recall announcement, the company stated that it “has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.”

Consumers Can Return Products for a Full Refund

Consumers who purchased the affected RAPTURE Preworkout powder should stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, according to the RAPTURE Pre-Workout Recall notice.

The company is notifying distributors and customers and arranging for recalled products to be returned. Consumers who are unsure whether their container is affected should compare its lot number and flavor with the recall information before taking further action.

People who experience health problems that may be linked to the supplement should contact a physician or other health care provider. Consumers and health professionals can also report suspected adverse reactions to the FDA’s MedWatch reporting program.

For questions about the recall, Leader Formulas lists the phone number 832-855-7562, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and the email address Patrick@leaderformulas.com.

The FDA says it cannot identify every potentially harmful ingredient in dietary supplements on the market. The recall underscores the importance of checking safety alerts and verifying product information before consuming performance supplements.
