Amazon is offering Amazon Same-Day Delivery of Eli Lilly’s new GLP-1 weight-loss pill, Foundayo, through Amazon Pharmacy in nearly 3,000 cities, aiming to improve access, affordability, and speed for patients.
Amazon Rolls Out Faster Access to Weight-Loss Treatment
Amazon announced it will deliver Foundayo within hours through its pharmacy service. With Amazon Same-Day Delivery, patients can order medications online and receive them quickly at home.
The service is expected to expand to 4,500 locations by year-end, making Amazon Same-Day Delivery a major step forward in healthcare convenience. In remote areas, delivery may take one to three days, still faster than traditional systems.
In more remote areas, deliveries are expected within one to three days. Traditional mail-order pharmacies can take up to a week or longer, making Amazon’s offering significantly faster.
“Amazon Pharmacy is reducing barriers for customers to access new weight management treatments like Foundayo,” said Tanvi Patel, vice president and general manager of Amazon Pharmacy.
Pricing Transparency and Convenience Take Center Stage
Amazon said the service is designed to simplify the process of obtaining weight-loss medications, which have seen surging demand but persistent access challenges.
With insurance, Foundayo may cost as little as $1 per day, or about $25 per month. For patients paying out of pocket, the price is about $5 per day, or $149 monthly, according to the company.
Manufacturer-sponsored coupons are automatically applied at checkout, eliminating the need for patients to search for discounts or navigate complex pricing systems.
“We are giving customers faster treatment options with our Same-Day Delivery offering, easy ways to save with automatically applied manufacturer coupons, and the price transparency they need to make informed decisions about their care,” Patel said.
Foundayo itself is designed for convenience. Unlike many GLP-1 treatments that require injections, it is a once-daily pill and does not require strict timing around meals.
Lilly and Amazon Aim to Streamline Patient Access
Eli Lilly aims to improve accessibility alongside innovation. Through its partnership, Amazon Same-Day Delivery enables patients to receive medication almost immediately after prescription.
“At Lilly, we believe that medications can best fulfill their promise when patients can actually access them,” said Laura Steele, group vice president of U.S. cardiometabolic health at Eli Lilly.
Through its collaboration with Amazon Pharmacy, patients may receive the medication the same day it is prescribed, reducing delays that often occur between diagnosis and treatment.
“If prescribed, patients may be able to have Foundayo on their doorstep the same day or walk out of their doctor’s office with it in hand,” Steele said.
Amazon is also expanding its broader health care services through Amazon One Medical, which offers virtual and in-person consultations. In some locations, patients can pick up medications immediately after appointments using in-office kiosks supported by licensed pharmacists.
The move reflects Amazon’s push into on-demand health care, combining diagnosis, prescription and delivery into a single system.
As demand for GLP-1 drugs grows, Amazon Same-Day Delivery is helping bridge gaps in availability and speed, setting a new standard for modern healthcare access.
